Cost Controller

Location: Workington (moving onto Major Nuclear Site)
Salary: Circa £35,000 + £5,060 car allowance
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Working Pattern: Office-based initially, with 1 day from home after probation

We’re working with a leading engineering and construction business delivering major projects across the UK, particularly within complex and highly regulated environments. They have a strong presence in the nuclear sector, are well established on long-term frameworks, and have a solid pipeline of work ahead.

They’re looking to bring in a Cost Controller to support delivery on a major programme, starting in Workington before transitioning onto site at a Major Nuclear Site.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for supporting the cost management and financial control of projects, working closely with project teams to ensure costs are tracked, reported and managed effectively.

Day to day, this will include:

  • Monitoring project costs and tracking performance against budgets
  • Supporting cost forecasting and reporting activities
  • Assisting with change control and cost variance analysis
  • Working closely with project and commercial teams to provide cost insight
  • Producing accurate and timely reports for stakeholders

This role offers the chance to work on a long-term, secure programme with a well-established contractor, supporting complex and high-value projects. There’s a strong team in place, a good level of support, and genuine opportunity to develop your career as the programme progresses. The work is varied, fast-paced, and gives you exposure to one of the UK’s most significant sites.

What They’re Looking For

  • Experience in a Cost Controller, Assistant QS, or similar project controls role
  • Background in construction, engineering or infrastructure projects
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills
  • Good communication skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to obtain BPSS clearance
